The sky’s the limit with Home Theatre, with Focal’s full sized speakers (whether floor standing or stand mounts) or even closer to a professional theatre with pro audio speakers, high quality AV amplifiers (from Anthem, Yamaha, and similar), and good TVs & Projectors (Sony, Panasonic & Optoma) any size of system is attainable – The Audio Consultant can help you achieve this, and correctly scope the size of system to your needs, environment, and budget.

What does 2.0, 2.1, 5.1, 7.1, or 11.2 mean? These numbers are a simple representation of the different speaker configurations, the first number is the number of speakers, while the decimal place (e.g. .1) is the number of subwoofers used for low level bass and movie effects. A 2.0 system is a conventional stereo system (2 speakers), while an 11.2 system features 11 speakers and 2 subwoofers.

The subwoofers a denoted after the decimal point because they are usually self powered and do not require power from the amplifier they are connected to – e.g. a 5.1 system means there are 6 speakers (5 standard speakers & 1 subwoofer) but only 5 of them need power from the amplifier.
